Engineering Service Specialist

Itasca, IL

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinate the inbound receiving and tracking of products in need of inspection or repair
  • Communicate the status and cost of repairs to sales reps and/or customers via phone and email
  • Inspect defective products to diagnose the causes of failure and determine cost of repairs
  • Enter and maintain the accurate status and testing logs of each repair into the database
  • Testing of company owned trial and demo equipment
  • Travel to warehouse, as needed, to lead and assist the testing teams

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ability to establish and maintain good communication with sales and customers
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Analytical skill to identify the underlying causes of product failure
  • Integrity – job requires appropriate handling of confidential, sensitive information
  • Dependability - meeting deadlines, completing duties or projects on time
  • Ability to lift 30 - 70 lbs. of equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft-based applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Repair skills including soldering and use of testing equipment such as a digital voltmeter
  • Ability to read schematics
  • 2-year technical degree and/or previous instrument repair or quality control experience
